Featured Success Story

Kalmar County Council

Capgemini worked with a Healthcare Authority in Sweden to develop new Service-Oriented Architecture

It widely accepted that the success of new business and IT solutions can be improved (and the risk and costs reduced) through the development of a Solutions Architecture to guide and govern the implementation.

By considering the individual projects in the context of the wider business needs and drivers, as well as the wider business and IT landscape, the Solution Architecture can help structure the solution so that it delivers the expected value to the business, leverages appropriate systems and infrastructure, and identifies (and mitigates) risks and complexity early in the design process.

Development

Capgemini includes Solutions Architecture development as part of its solutions design process in all relevant areas – improving project success and added value. Ideally this should be part of a wider Architecture capability and Enterprise Architecture  providing much of the framework and guidance for the Solutions Architecture. Many organizations do not have this all in place, and we can develop the appropriate Solutions Architecture to reflect the wider needs of the business as well as the specific needs within the project.

Our Integrated Architecture Framework  provides the basic framework for our Solutions Architects to develop the architecture in a structured and consistent manner, ensuring easier and more effective communication and collaboration across Capgemini and with our clients.

Governance

Having developed the Solutions Architecture, it is important to ensure that the architecture is realized through the design, and can be adjusted if specific project issues require changes that affect or impact the architecture. Our Architects and Technical Managers, working closely with the software and infrastructure engineers, provide this technical management through the delivery phase of the project.
