Paulina

“I believe that no other company gives you such freedom to grow and so many opportunities to develop.”
– Six Sigma leader, Delivery Excellence Team, Poland, with Capgemini since 2005

Paulina studied Accountancy at the Krakow Academy of Economics and worked for 4 years in the Hotel business, including a 6 month spell in London.

Inspiration

Working in London had greatly appealed to Paulina, so she was looking for a company that had an international environment. “I knew that Capgemini had that. I also wanted a job which fitted with my education, and which would enable me to apply my knowledge.”

Development

Starting out as a Process Assistant, Paulina had the opportunity to keep up the international ties as she worked with the collection team with Ireland, England and Scotland. “I really enjoyed being part of a European team, I traveled to Holland, and I was cooperating with the UK and Ireland on a daily basis.” Paulina was promoted to a Process Operative before starting in the Delivery Excellence Team, where she looks at Continuous Improvement through Six Sigma. “My favorite part of the work is helping people find opportunities in their processes that they haven’t seen before.”

Life at Capgemini

“The people here are amazing. There is a lot of work, but we don’t argue, we all help each other out. The atmosphere here is really positive. I also like that Capgemini presents its employees with a lot of opportunities: promotion, travel and learning new things. We are offered a lot of training.”

Dedication

Through her work on the Six Sigma project, Paulina has developed her diplomatic skills, convincing others of the benefits of her projects. “One thing I have learnt is: Never say never! Often people are unresponsive to a suggestion of change, but once you have gathered the data to support your idea, they can often see room for improvement. It’s exciting being involved in making other people’s work easier.”

Time Out

A keen skier and horse rider, Paulina spends most of her weekends on these hobbies. “My second life is horse-trekking.” She will be leading groups through the mountains later this year. “Since working at Capgemini, I have come developed a lot of statistical, organizational and quality tools which I can apply in my private life, especially when planning my treks. Both for myself and my group, I analyze the potential dangers we could face. It’s better to be prepared in these situations.”
